This course is the classroom version of the Instructor Led OnLine (ILO) course 3W351.

This course is designed to familiarize you with the components of DB2 Warehouse.The major focus will be on the SQL Warehouse Tool, Intelligent Miner, Cubing Services, and their common interface, the Design Studio. Components such as Alphablox, the Database Partitioning Feature, and DB2 Workload Manager will be covered at a higher level.This is due to the fact that there are existing courses that cover those components in greater detail. Exercises will mostly focus on the SQL Warehousing Tool, Intelligent Miner, and Cubing Services. However, there is an exercise that uses Bloxbuilder to create an Alphablox application that access DB2 data, stored in a star schema.

After completing this course, you should be able to:

Describe the components of DB2 Warehouse
Create an Alphablox application that access DB2 data, stored in a star schema
Use the Design Studio to physically model tables that will be used as sources and targets for the SQL Warehouse Tool
Using the Design Studio, create Data Flows in order to move and manipulate data within DB2
Combine Data Flows into Control Flows and deploy the Control Flows into DB2 Warehouse applications
Describe the different data mining algorithms supported by Intelligent Miner
Create Mining Flows that will create data mining models and score those models against new data
Apply data mining algorithms against unstructured data
Describe how Cubing Services can be used as an OLAP metadata store
Using Cubing Services, create OLAP metadata that describes a star schema defined in DB2
Create MQTs, using Cubing Services OLAP metadata, to enhance various relational OLAP tools' performance
Query DB2 data, stored in a star schema, using MDX
