To obtain the skills required, you should complete:

AIX 5L Basics (AU130) or (Q1313) or
Linux Basics and Installation (LX020) or (QLX02) and
AIX 5L System Administration I: Implementation (AU140) or (Q1314) or
Linux System Administration I: Implementation (LX030) or
Linux System Administration (QLX03)
You should be able to: Log in and out of the system
Use the man command to view information about AIX commands
Use both full and relative path names in a file specification
Create, delete, and list directories
Use the touch command to create an empty file
Use the cp command to copy files
Use the mv command to move or rename files
Use the ln command to allow a file to have more than one name
Display the contents of a file using the cat, pg, and more commands
Use the rm command to remove files protecting files from unauthorized access by controlling a file's permission
Create and edit files
Manipulate text within a file
Execute command line of vi
Use wildcards to access files with similar names
Use redirection and pipes to control the input and output of processes
Use line continuation in order to enter long command lines
Group commands in order to control their execution
List variables that define your environment
Set, reference, and delete variable values
Define the use of the following quoting metacharacters: double quotes ( " ) single quotes ( ' ) and the backslash ( \ )
Perform command substitution
Define the concepts of users and groups, and explain how and when these should be allocated on the system
Describe ways of controlling root access on the system
Explain the uses of SUID, SGID, and SVTX permission bits
Administer user accounts and groups
Identify the data files associated with users and security

Describe the architecture of how the Virtual Input/Output (I/O) Server software is implemented and how it communicates with its clients

Perform basic performance monitoring tasks
